  • Saturday, 5/15, 11am-6pm: The 6th Annual Asian Heritage Street Celebration at Larkin and McAllister Streets in SF: The largest gathering of Asian Pacific Americans in the nation. The fair features food, live music, art, children’s activities, Hep B screenings, shopping, martial arts, DJs, you name it.
  • Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16: Asian Culinary Forum, 2010 Symposium: Filipino Flavors, Tradition and Inspiration: Join the Asian Culinary Forum in the heart of San Francisco for an exciting, weekend-long celebration of the foods of the Philippines. Tickets required.

May 3-9

  • Saturday, 5/8, 10pm-2am: Official Launch Party for 6th Annual Asian Heritage Street Celebration at Sutra Lounge in SF: Kick-off party for the largest gathering of Asian Pacific Americans in the nation. The fair features food, live music, art, children’s activities, Hep B screenings, shopping, martial arts, DJs, you name it.
  • Thursday, 5/6,  7:00pm: Release Party for Prison/Culture at City Lights Bookstore in SF: Prison/Culture investigates the culture of incarceration as an integral part of the American experience through a compilation of stunning and often heartrending art by inmates, as well as artists on the outside.

April 26-May 2

  • Wednesday, 4/28, 7:30 pm: Lunada at Galerîa de la Raza (SF), featuring Anthem Salgado, Meldy Hernandez, Michael Greene and Greg Manalo. April’s Lunado brings together some of the Bay Area’s most creative, interdisciplinary storytellers. Combining elements of theatre, spoken word, movement and photography through a Filipino lens.
  • Saturday, 5/1, 12:00pm to 5:00pm: Free Comic Book Day 2010: the first Saturday in May each year, participating comic book shops around the world give away comic books absolutely free.

April 19-25, 2010

  • Thursday, 4/22, 12:00pm to 1:30pm: Growing Food in the City, a Power Hour Workshop, at Green Zebra Environmental Action Center at Crocker Galleria | 50 Post Street, San Francisco, CA: A  brief introduction to urban food production in San Francisco, and information about why it’s so important to choose organic produce, and to support Farmers’ Markets. Free, RSVP – event@thegreenzebra.org (A healthy lunch will be provided for the first 25 registrants)
  • Sunday, 4/25, 6pm-9pm: La Peña’s 2nd Annual International Food Tasting: Come share our favorite entrees, side dishes, and desserts! Performances by Youth Speaks poets and music provided by Deejay Max Champ. Special dishes prepared by guest chefs Bryant Terry and No Worries Catering. $15 for 4-dish tasting.
